The Autorikshaw fare in a city is charged Rs 10 for the first kilometer and @ Rs 4 per kilometer for subsequent distance covered. Write the linear equation to express the above statement. Also write two solutions for the equation

let the total fare be y

1 km = 10 rs     then   rest

y = 1 × 10  + (x-1)

     1× 10 + ( x- 1) ×4

y = 10 + (x- 1) 4

     10 +  4x -4

y = 6+4x  

2 solution : let x be 4, and 5

y = 6 +( 4×4 )=  22      

y = 6 + 4×5 = 26

EQUATION : y = 6 + 4x
