∵ Average = Mean.

Now,

Given :

  • Average of 8, 10, 12, 14 and A is 12

To Find :

  • Value of A

\huge\underline\green{\tt Solution:-}

\therefore\: Average\:=\dfrac{Sum\:of\:all\:observations}{Total\:no.\:of\:observations}

12\: =\dfrac{8 + 10 + 12 + 14 + A}{5}

⇒ 12 × 5 = 44 + A

⇒ 60 = 44 + A

⇒ A = 60 - 44

∴ A = 16

\rule{100}2

Verification :-

 =\dfrac{8+10+12+14+16}{5}

 =\dfrac{60}{5}

= 12

Hence proved!

 \large \underline{\underline{ \mathfrak{ \: Solution :  \:  \: }}}

Given ,

The data is 8 , 10 , 12 , 14 and A

The average or mean of the data is 12

It is known that ,

 \purple{ \sf { \underline{ \fbox{ \fbox{Average =  \frac{sum  \: of  \: all \:  observation }{number  \: of \:  observation} }</p><p> }}}}

Substitute the values , we obtain

 \sf \hookrightarrow12 =  \frac{8 + 10 + 12 + 14 +A }{5}  \\  \\  \sf \hookrightarrow 60 = 44 + A \\  \\ \sf \hookrightarrow  A = 60 - 44 \\  \\ \sf \hookrightarrow A = 16

Hence , the value of A is 16 respectively
