The age of the teacher is 50 years.

Given: The average age of 39 students and a teacher of a Class are 11 years. If the age of the teacher is excluded the average age of the class is reduced by 1.

To Find: The age of the teacher.

Solution:

It is said that the average age of 39 students and a teacher of a Class are 11 years.

So, total number of people = 39 + 1 = 40

And total age of 40 people = 40 × 11

                                              = 440 years

Now, it is said that if the age of the teacher is excluded the average age of the class is reduced by 1.

So,  total number of people = 40 - 1 = 39

The new average age = 11 - 1 = 10

So, the total age of 39 students = 39 × 10

                                               = 390 years

∴ the age of the teacher = ( 440 - 390 ) years

                                         = 50 years

Hence, the age of the teacher is 50 years.
