The average age of 4 siblings is 12 years if the age of their mother is also included average age increased by 5 what is the age of their mother

Age of each sibling is given as 12 years.

\therefore{} Age of 4 siblings => 4 × 12

=> 48 years.


Now, let the age of their mother be x

When the mother is also included, her age becomes 48 + x


Average = \dfrac{48 + x}{5} which is given as 12 + 5 = 17


According to the question,

\dfrac{48 + x}{5} = 17

48 + x = 17 × 5

48 + x = 85

x = 85 - 48

x = 37



\therefore{} Age of mother is \underline{37 \: years}

Total number of siblings is 4


Total age of 4 siblings =>4 × 12


=> 48 years.


Again


Let the age of their mother be x


When the mother is also included then  5 years age increase  .

=>(48 + x) / 5 = 12 +5


=>48 + x = 17 × 5


=>48 + x = 85


=>x = 85 - 48

x = 37

Hence,


The Age of mother is  37 years .
