To find:-

• The age of the father.

Solution:-

Let the sum of ages of children be ' x '.

The avg age of 5 children  = 8 = x / 5.

➾ x = 40 .

Therefore sum of ages of children is 40.

Let the father's age be 'y'.

Given that ,if the father is included ,the average age increases by 13 years.

➾ Avg age including father = 8 + 13 = 21 .

➾ 21 =  (x+y)/6

➾ 21 = (40 + y) / 6

➾ 126 = 40 +y

➾ y = 126 - 40 = 86.

Hence, father's age is 86 .
