Given,

Average age of 21 students = 14years 3months

Average age excluding oldest student = 14years 2months

To find,

The age of the oldest student.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Average age of 21 student = 14years 3months = (12×14) months + 3 months = 168+3 = 171 months

Average age of 20 students (after excluding the oldest student) = 14 years + 2 months = 168+2 = 170 months

Total age of students including the oldest = (171×21) = 3591 months

Total age of students excluding the oldest = (170×20) = 3400 months

The age of the oldest student = (Total age of students including the oldest - Total age of students excluding the oldest) = (3591-3400) = 191 months = 15years 11months

Hence, the age of the oldest student is 15years 11months.
