Average = Sum of observation/Number of observation

Calculation:

Let the age of new person be x

Total age of 8 persons = age of 7 persons + age of new person

⇒ 8 × 30 = 7 × 28 + x

⇒ x = 240 – 196 = 44 years

∴ The age of the new person is 44 years

Average age of group = 28 years

Total increased the age of the group = 2 × 8 = 16

Age of the new person = 28 + 16 = 44 years
