Let present age of woman and her daughter be 2X and X years respectively.

Given that : 2X + X / 2 = 42

=> 3X = 84

=> X = 28 years.

Present age of woman = 2X = 56 years.

And,

Present age of daughter = X = 28 years.

ʜᴇɴᴄᴇ, ᴅᴀᴜɢʜᴛᴇʀ's ᴀɢᴇ = x = 28 ʏᴇᴀʀs

ᴡᴏᴍᴀɴ's ᴀɢᴇ = 2x = 2 × 28 = 56 ʏᴇᴀʀs
