the average age of father and his two sons is 39 years. Nine years ago, the average age of the sons was 18 years. if the difference of the ages of the two sons is 6 years then find the age of the father

given (F + x+ y )/3 = 39

F + x + y = 39×3

F + x + y = 117.....(1)

given {(x-9) +(y-9)}/2 =18

(x-9)+(y-9) =18×2

x+y -18 = 36

x+y =36+18

x+y = 54 ....(2)

given x-y = 6 ... (3)

equating 2 & 3

x+y =54

x -y= 6

2x= 60

x= 30years

y = 30-6= 24 years

F = 117-(30+24)==

F= 63years
