Answer:

55 years

Step-by-step explanation:

avg. of 14 persons = 40 yrs/person

total = 14*40

= 560 yrs --(1)

1 person included.so, avg. increased by 1

avg. of 15 persons = 41 yrs/ person

total = 15*41

= 615 yrs--(2)

by subtracting (1) & (2),

= 615 - 560

= 55 yrs

Given,

The average age of the group which includes a total of 14 persons is 40 years.

If one person is added to them the average age increases by 1.

To Find,

The age of the new person.

Solution,

As given

The average age of 14 persons is 40 years.

So the total age of those 14 persons is 14×40=560 years.

Now 1 person is included. So there are total (14+1=)15 persons in the group.

For that reason, the average age of those persons will increase by 1.

Hence, the current average age is 41 years.

Now total age is = 41×15=615 years.

We can get this new person's age by subtracting the total age of 14 persons from the total age of 15 persons.

So new person's age is= 615 - 560= 55 years.

Hence, the age of the new person is 55 years.
