Let the Megha's present age be m years and Ritu's present age be r years.

Acc. to the question,

( m + r )/ 2 = 18 years

⇒ m +  r = 36 years.  -------- ( 1 )

6 years later,

m + 6 = 2(r+6)

⇒ m + 6 = 2r + 12

⇒ m = 2r + 6   ------ ( 2 )

Putting equation ( 2 )  in ( 1 ), we get

2r + 6 + r = 36

⇒ 3r = 36 - 6

⇒ 3r = 30

⇒ r = 30/3

⇒ r = 10 years

∴ m = 36 - 10
