Answer:

11:5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :The average age of P and Q is 28 years.

           The ratio of their ages is 5:2.

To Find:  What will be  the ratio of their ages after 4 years?

Solution:

The ratio of their ages is 5:2.

Let the ratio be x

P's age = 5x

Q's age = 2x

The average age of P and Q is 28 years.

So, Average =\frac{\text{Sum of ages}}{\text{No. of people}}

28 =\frac{5x+2x}{2}

28 \times 2 =5x+2x

56 =7x

\frac{56}{7} =x

8=x

So, P's age = 5x = 5 \times 8 = 40

Q's age = 2x= 2 \times 8 = 16

After 4 years

P's age =40+4=44 years

Q's age =16+4 = 20 years

Ratio of ages after 4 years = \frac{44}{20} =\frac{22}{10}=\frac{11}{5}

So, the ratio of their ages after 4 years is 11:5
