Let the -

  • cost of one banana be Rs. x
  • cost of one apple be Rs. y

According to question,

The average cost of 2 bananas and 3 apples is Rs. 72

→ 2x + 3y = 72 ___ (1)

The average cost of 4 bananas and 3 apples is Rs. 90.

→ 4x + 3y = 90 ___ (2)

We have to find the cost of 18 bananas and 18 apples.

Means, 18x + 18y

=> 18(x + y)

Add (eq 1) & (eq 2)

→ 2x + 3y + 4x + 3y) = 72 + 90

→ 2x + 4x + 3y + 3y = 162

→ 6x + 6y = 162

→ 6(x + y) = 162

→ x + y = 27

Cost of one banana and apple is Rs. 27.

So,

Cost of 18 bananas and 18 apples is 18(27)

Rs. 486
