Mean = Sum of all occurrences/Total number of occurrences

Given:

Total number of students = 10

Wrongly calculated mean = 166 cm

Mean = (Student 1 + Student 2 + ....+ Student 10) / 10

Student 1 + Student 2 + ....+ Student 10 = Mean*10 = 166*10 = 1660 cm

Sum of heights of all students with wrongly recorded data = 1660 cm

Sum of heights of all student with correct data = Sum of heights of all students with wrongly recorded data - 10 = 1660 - 10 = 1650

Correct Mean = 1650/10 = 165 cm —-> Answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, the average height of 10 students in a class is 166 cm

By verification it was found that one of the reading was wrongly recorded as 160 cm instead of 150 cm

Mean =sum of observations /no of observations

Mean = total no of students /10

Mean of total students = (166 cm) X (10)

= 1660 cm

Sum of heights of all students are 1660 cm

Sum of all students with correct data = sum of all students with wrong recored data - 10 => 1660-10=1650

.°. Hence the correct mean of height of all Students = 1650
