The average life of a printer cartridge was 1,000 pages with a standard deviation of 80 pages. The cartridge manufacturer claims that with advanced technology, they are able to increase the life of the cartridge beyond 1,000 pages. A random sample of 50 cartridges taken from the recent production had average life of 1018 pages. At 5% level of significance, can the manufacturer’s claim be accepted?
