Option C is the correct answer.

The total marks scored by the student in mathematics are 87.

Given:

The average marks scored by the student in seven subjects = 75

The average marks in six subjects = 73

To find:

Total marks scored by the student in Mathematics.

Solution:

We know that,

Average = Total marks of the student/ Number of subjects

Total marks in 7 subjects= 75 × 7 = 525

Total marks in 6 subjects = 73 × 6 = 438

Marks scored by the student in mathematics = Total marks in 7 subjects – total marks in 6 subjects

= 525- 438

= 87

Therefore, total marks scored by the student in mathematics = 87
