Let the required marks be x
According to the question
(x+2*87)÷3>90
=> x+174>270
=>x>270-174
=>x>96
The minimum marks required is 96

ttusharsharma: wrong answer
ttusharsharma: its 93
mkb21: Thanks for correcting me. I just figured out that the answer should be 93. In the question we were asked to find the marks which will raise the average to 90. In this case the answer will be 93. But if it is asked that the average should surpass 90 then it would be 96. Thank you for correcting me again. :-)
mkb21: Sorry. the answer I gave earlier is the correct one. I am right.
mkb21: The answer is 96.
abhi569: yes
abhi569: 96 is the correct one
mkb21: Yes buddy. It is correct. )

Answer:

Option c is the correct option.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

     Average marks scored by Rhea in two exams = 87

Therefore,

= >  ( Sum of marks in two exams ) / 2 = 87

= >  Sumo of marks in two exams = 87 x 2

= >  Sum of marks in two exams = 174

Let she should score 'a' to raise her average to 90.

At next exams, her total number of exam will be 2 + 1, that is 3.

And sum of marks will be 174 + a

Given that the average at that time should be 90.

So,

= >  ( 174 + a ) / 3 = 90

= >  174 + a = 3 x 90

= >  174 + a = 270

= >  a = 270 - 174

= >  a = 96

Therefore, she should score 96 marks in next exams, in order to raise her average marks to 90.
