Given :  The average number of customers arriving at a bank's counter per minute is 2.

To Find  : the  probability that during a given minute:

 No customer arrives

Three or more customer arrives

Solution:

P(x)  = λˣ  e^(-λ) / x!

Mean arrival rate of customers per Minute  = λ  =  2

probability that during a given minute:

No customer arrives

x = 0

P(0) =  2⁰  e⁻² / 0!

= 1 /e²

= 0.135

 Three or more customer arrives

= 1 - P(0) - P(1) - P(2)

= 1  -  2⁰  e⁻² / 0!    -  2¹  e⁻² / 1!    - 2² e⁻² / 2!

=  1  - 1/e²  - 2/e²  - 2/e²

= 1 - 5/e²

= 0.323
