Answer:

76/3 or 25.33

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the first two numbers are x and y.

   Average = sum/no.  of observations

Case 1:    Sum = x + y   & no. = 2

 ∴ 48 = (x + y)/2

    96 = x + y           ...(1)

Case 2:    let the numbers are a,b,c and e.

     ∴ 14 = (a + b + c + e)/4

       56 = a + b + c + e       ...(2)

Case 3:    Average of all 6 numbers

    ⇒ (sum of all numbers)/6

    ⇒ (x + y + a + b + c + e)/6

    ⇒ (96 + 56)/6        [from (1) & (2)]

    ⇒ 25(1/3) or 25.33 or 76/3

CONCEPT :

Here this question is based on average we have provided average of 2number is 48 average of another 4 number is 14 first we will multiply 48 with 2 we get = 96 then, we have four number are w, x, y, z then, we will multiply 14 with 4 we get = 56 then, we will add 56 with 96 we get 152 then, we will divide 152 with 6 we get

= 25.33 so, we get the final answer

LET US DO THE QUESTION !!

GIVEN :

  • average of 2number is 48 and the average of another 4 number is 14

TO FIND :

  • find the average of all the 6 number = ?

SOLUTION :

let two number are = a and b

ATQ , a+b /2 = 48

or a + b = 48 × 2 = 96

and let 4 number are = w,x,y,z

ATQ , w,x , y , z /4 = 14

or w + x+ y + z = 14 × 4 = 56

= a + b + w + x + y + z = 56 + 96 = 152

since , there are 6 number so average = 152/6

= 25.33

hence, 25.33 is the answer
