Given : Average of 3 consecutive even numbers - 18

Find : Largest among three consecutive even numbers.

Solution : Let the three consecutive even numbers be x, x+2 and x+4. The sum of these three consecutive even numbers will be : 3x+6.

As per the question, the average is 18. The mathematical representation will be :

(3x + 6)/3 = 18

3x + 6 = 18*3

3x + 6 = 54

3x = 48

x = 16

The first even number = x = 16

The second even number = x+2 = 18

The third even number = x+4 = 20

Hence, the largest of these numbers is  c. 20.
