Given :-

The average of 8 numbers is 12.if each number is increased by 2

To Find :-

Average of new set

Solution :-

We know that

Average = Sum of observation/Total observation

8 × 12 = Sum of observation

96 = Sum of observation

Now

Every number increased by 2. Therefore, Increase in Sum of observation = 96 + 16 = 112

New Average = New Sum of observation/8

New Average = 112/8

New Average = 14

Answer:

The average of the new set of numbers = 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • The average of 8 numbers is 12.
  • If each number is increased by 2.

To find:

  • The average of the new set of numbers.

Solution:

First we will assume the sum of all the 8 numbers as x. Then we are provided with total numbers i.e, 8 and thier average. So, by using it we will find the sum of all the 8 numbers.

Let the sum of all the 8 numbers be x.

  • x/8 = 12
  • x = 12 × 8
  • x = 96

If each number is increased by 2, we will add 2 to each number i.e, we will multipy the whole sum by 2.

  • = 96 × 2
  • = 192

Finally,

  • New average = 192/8
  • New average = 48/2
  • New average = 14
