We know that the formula for Average is -
Sum of Observations/ Number of Observations
=> If the average of 10 numbers is 0.
Then, sum of 10 numbers will be -
0×10 = 0
We add 72 and (-12) to the Total sum of observations-
0+72+(-12)
= 72-12
= 60
Total number of observations were 10 previously but as we have added two more numbers , it'll be 12 now.
So , average =
60/12
= 5
Answer - The average of numbers when 72 and (-12) are added is 5.

=5
0+72-12
