Given that,

  • Average of four members = 21
  • Number of members = 4

we know,

\frac{}{x} = ∑xi/N

⇒ 21 = ∑xi/4

⇒ 21×4 = ∑xi

⇒ 84 = ∑xi

If one of the number is increased by 12 then the whole value of ∑xi also increase by 12.

So,

  • ∑xi = 84+12 = 96
  • N = 4

we know,

\frac{}{x} = ∑xi/N

\frac{}{x} = 96/4

\frac{}{x} = 24

∴ The new mean of the data is 24.

Hope this helps you.
