Answer:

Required sixth number be 45.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given average of six numbers is 35.

Let six numbers be a,b,c,d,e,f.

But now question is what is average?

If x and y be two numbers then their avarage  =  \frac{x + y}{2}

For example,

we are taking two numbers 50 and 60.

And by the average definition, average of 50 and 60 is

 \frac{50 + 60}{2}  \\  =  \frac{110}{2} \\  = 55

Here avarage of a,b,c,d,e,f is 35.

Therefore,

 \frac{a + b + c + d + e + f}{6}  = 35 \\ a + b + c + d + e + f = 6 \times 35 \\ a + b + c + d + e + f =210....(1)

It is also given,

Average of first five numbers is 33.

So,

 \frac{a + b + c + d + e}{5}  = 33 \\ a + b + c + d + e = 5 \times 33 \\ a + b + c + d + e = 165.....(2)

We are subtracting equation (2) from equation (1) and get

(a + b + c + d + e + f)  -  (a + b + c + d + e) = 210 - 165

f = 45

Therefore the sixth number is 45.
