Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numbera be x,y

Let the Greater number be x!

(x+y)/2= 5

x+y=10 --> 1

x = 4y --> 2

Substitute eq.2 in 1

4y+y=10

5y=10

y = 2

Substitute in 2

x=4y

x=4(2)

x = 8

Answer:

Let one of the number be 'x'

Then the other number = 4x

Given, average = 5

=> (x+4x)/2 = 5

=> 5x/2 = 5

=> 5x = 10

=> x = 10/5

=> x = 2

so the other number, 4x = 4×2 = 8

Therefore the two numbers are 2 and 8

[check :- (2+8)/2 = 10/2 = 5 ]
