The average of x, y and z is 30, and the average of x and y is 20. What is the value of z?

given- (x+y+z)/3=30

thus x+y+z=90. eq 1.

also (x+y)/2= 20.

so x+y= 40. eq 2.

put eq 2 in eq 1-

40+z=90.

therefore z=90-40= 50.
