Fe304

Oxidation State of Fe is

Let oxidation state of Fe be x

Since , oxidation state of 0 is -2

So, Fe3 can be written as 3x and 04 be 4×(-2)

Since there is no overall charge . So charge

becomes 0.

3x + 4×(-2) = 0

3x = 8

x = 8/3

NOTE :-

But , any oxidation state neither be in fraction .

But in this case it is possible
