 =  \frac{su m \: of \: all \: terms }{number \: o f \: terms} \ =  \frac{a + b + c}{3}   \\ = 80 \: rupees(given)

Let expenditure of A be 'x'

Then expenditure of B = 2x

Expenditure of C= 3x

Then according to above mentioned formula,

 \frac{x  + 2 x+ 3x}{3}  =  \frac{6x}{3 }  = 2x

Thus since Average expenditure is 2x,

Expenditure of A,

2x = 80 \\  x =  \frac{80}{2 }  \\ x = 40
