Answer:

let, those two apples price be a,b respectively

given,

the average price of 16 apples is 32,

£(X1+X2+X3+....X14+a+b)/16 = 32,------>eqn1

given,the AVG price of 14 apples is 22,

£(X1+X2+....+X14)/14 = 22,

£(X1+X2+......X14) = 22*14----->eqn2

also given that,

a is 40% more than b,

i.e,a= 1.4b,

substitute eqn 2 in eqn 1,

(308+a+b)/16 = 32,

=>(308+1.4b+b)/16 = 32,

=> 308+2.4b = 512,

=> 2.4b = 204,

=> b = 85,

and a = 1.4*85= 119.

therefore,price of those two apples will be 85 & 119.

Hope it helps u....
