Given : The average rating of a public senior high school students in a certain division of region VII is 85 with a standard deviation of 3.

a student is selected,

To Find :  the probability that his average rating is greater than 80

Solution:

Mean = 85

SD = 3

Value = 80

Z score = ( Value - Mean ) /SD

=> Z score = ( 80 - 85)/3 = - 5/3 = - 1.667

From Z score table :  0.0478  are less than 80

probability that his average rating is greater than 80  = 1 -  0.0478

=  0.9522

0.9522 is  the probability that his average rating is greater than 80
