avg salary of 35 workers is 3500
total salary =3500×35=122500

5new workers are joined
so the total salary of 35 workers + 5new workers =
122500 + 2500 + 2200 + 2800 + 2400 + 2600 = 135000
so the new avg becomes
135000 \div 40 = 3375

Concept:

The average of a data set is given by the ratio of the total value of that data set to the number of data in that data set.

Average = (Total)/(Number of data)

Given:

Given that, Rs 3500 is the average salary of 35 workers in a factory. New five workers joined and the salary of them are given by Rs. 2500, 2200, 2800, 2400, 2600 respectively.

Find:

We have to find the average salary of total workers after joining that new five workers.

Solution:

Given that the average salary of initial 35 workers is Rs 3500

So total salary of that 35 workers is = Rs. (3500*35) = Rs 122500

Now the salaries of new five joined workers are 2500, 2200, 2800, 2400, 2600 respectively.

So now the new total salary of that workers is

= 122500 + (2500 + 2200 + 2800 + 2400 + 2600)

= 122500 + 12500

= 135000

Now the total number of workers in that factory is = 35 + 5 = 40

So the new average salary of that 40 workers is = 135000/40 = Rs 3375

Hence Rs 3375 will be the new average salary of that 40 workers in the factory.
