Converting these sppeds in SI units is 31.1 m/sec.

Explanation:

Given :

(a) The average speed of a snail =  0.02 mile / hour

(b) The average speed of leopard = 70 miles / hour

(a)The average speed of a snail =  0.02 mile / hour  :

We know that,

                       1 mile = 1.6 km =1600 m

And

We also know that,

                        1 hour = 3600 second

Converting to S.I units

                                =\frac{32}{3600} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}

                                =0.0089 \mathrm{ms}^{-1}

(b) The average speed of leopard = 70 miles / hour :

In SI units,

                =\frac{70 \times 1.6 \times 1000}{3600} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{sec}

                =\frac{112000}{3600} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{sec}

                = 31.1 m / sec

Therefore, the speed is 31.1 m / sec.
