Given : The average velocity of Raju over a given time duration is is 12m/s.

He travels the first half of the total time with velocity x m/s and the second half of the total time with velocity 3x m/s,

To Find : value of x.

Solution:

The average velocity of Raju over a given time duration is is 12m/s

Let say Time taken for trip = 2t  secs

Then distance = 12 * 2t  = 24t m

He travels the first half of the total time with velocity x m/s

Distance covered = xt   m

second half of the total time with velocity 3x m/s,

Distance covered = 3xt   m

xt + 3xt  = 24t

=> 4xt  = 24t

=> 4x = 24

=> x = 6

Value of x = 6
