average velocity = \frac{x+2x}{2}

12 = \frac{x+2x}{2}

3x = 24

x = 24 ÷ 3

x = 8

• According to given question :

 \bold{As \: we \: know \: that} \\  \tt:  \implies  \frac{ v_{1}  +  v_{2} }{2}  =  Average \: velocity \\  \\   \circ \: \text{Putting \: the \: given \: values} \\  \tt:  \implies  \frac{x + 2x}{2}  = 12 \\  \\  \tt: \implies  \frac{3x}{2}  = 12 \\  \\  \tt:  \implies 3x = 12 \times 2 \\  \\  \tt:  \implies 3x = 24 \\  \\  \tt: \implies x =  \frac{24}{3}  \\  \\   \green{\tt:  \implies  x = 8 \: m/s} \\  \\   \green{\tt  \therefore  v_{1} = 8 \: m/s} \\  \\   \green{\tt \therefore  v_{2} = 16 \: m/s}
