If there are n passengers whose weights are given as w_1,w_2,w_3............w_n, then average will be calculated as

\bar w = \frac{w_1+w_2+w_3.+..........+w_n}{n} =\frac{\sum w_i}{n}.

In above question  average weight of 10 passengers is given as 56kg.

so from the above formula we can get the total sum of weights of each passengers as 10*56 = 560 kg.

New average of 11 passenger (including boatman) is 57 kg. This says that total weight of all passengers including boatman will be 11*57 = 627kg

Weight of the boatman = Total weight of 11 passengers(including boatman)- Total weight of 10 passengers = 627-560 = 67 kg
