Answer :-

We know that,

Average = Sum of observations / Number of observations

Here, we are given :-

  • Average = 56 kg
  • Number of passengers = 10

Substituting the value :-

→ 56 = Sum of weight all passengers / 10

→ Sum of weight all passengers = 560 kg

Let the weight of boatman be x.

Now,

  • Average = 56 + 1 = 57 kg
  • Number of observations = 11
  • Sum of all passengers = 560 + x

So,

→ 57 = 560 + x / 11

→ 57 × 11 = 560 + x

→ 627 = 560 + x

→ x = 627 - 560

→ x = 67

Weight of boatman = 67 kg

Answer:

Weight of the boatman is 67 Kg.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

Average weight of 10 passengers in a boat is 56 Kg.

If average weight of a boat along with the boatman increases by 1 Kg.

To find :-

Weight of boatman.

Solution :-

Avg weight of 10 passengers = 56

Total weight of 10 passengers = 56 × 10

  • 560 Kg

Average weight of boat along with the boatman increases by 1 Kg.

Avg weight with boatman = 56 Kg + 1 Kg

  • 57 Kg

Total weight of passengers + boatman = 57 × 11

  • 627 Kg

Weight of the boatman = Weight of passengers including boatman - Weight of passengers only

  • 627 Kg - 560 Kg
  • 67 Kg

Weight of the boatman is 67 Kg.
