The average weight of a class of 39 student is 40kg. When a new student is admitted to the class, the average decrease by 200g. find the weight of the new student.​

Let new student weight be = X kg

If new student adds to whole class , the total members of class = 40

The total weight of whole class after new student being admitted = 1560 + X kg. -> LHS

The average decreased = 200g = 0.2 kg

The new average = 40 - 0.2 = 39.8

The new total weight = 40 * 39.8 = 1592 kg. -> RHS

Equating LHS and RHS

1560 + X = 1592

X = 1592 - 1560

X = 32 Kg
