Mass of bullet = 1kg

velocity = 10m/s

Momentum of bullet before collision = 1×10 = 10kgm/s

Momentum of stationary block before collision = 0

So,

Total momentum before collision/impact = 10kgms-¹

Now, according to law of conservation of momentum,

Momentum is conserved in a collision

So,

Total momentum before collision = Total momentum after collision

=>10 = (5+10)×(V)

{ here V is the velocity of combined object}

{also, now since the bullet and the block is a combined object, so their masses will get added}

=>10 =15 V

=>10/15 = V

=> 2/3 = V

that is V = 0.66m/s

Cheers!
