Bacteria in the mouth convert the leftovers of food in the mouth or among the teeth into acids. So they corrode the skin and gums. They harm the teeth and gums.

Diabetes is not caused or prevented by the bacteria in the mouth. Diabetes is caused by the shortage of insulin in the body. Pancreas produces insulin. Also malfunction of liver could cause diabetes. Excess sugar or fatty foods or improper eating times could cause diabetes.
