GIVEN

  • Ratio of base:height of a triangle (b:h) = 5:7

  • Area of the triangle = 70 cm²

TO FIND

  • The base and height of the triangle.

SOLUTION

Let the base and height of the triangle be 5x and 7x respectively.

USING FORMULA :-

  • Area of a triangle = ½ × b × h

70 = ½ × 5x × 7x

70 = ½ × 35x²

70 = 35x²/2

70 = 17.5x²

17.5x² = 70

x² = 70/17.5

x² = 4

x = √4

→ x = 2

____________________________

  • Base of the triangle = 5x = 5 × 2 = 10 cm

  • Height of the triangle = 7x = 7 × 2 = 14 cm
