The base and hypotenuse of a right triangle are respectively 5 cm and 12 cm. Find its area.

Answer :

Given : -

Base = 5 cm

Hypotenuse = 12 cm

So, Altitude =  \sqrt{Hypotenuse^{2}-Base^{2}}   <br /><br />


 = \sqrt{12^{2}  -5^{2} }<br /><br />= \sqrt{144-25}<br /><br />=\sqrt{119}


Area of a Right angled Triangle =  \frac{1}{2} *Base  * Altitude

 = \frac{5*\sqrt{119}}{2}  <br /><br />= \frac{10.9*5}{2} <br /><br />


= 27.25 cm²
