The base area of a boat is 4m*m . A man weighing 86kg weight steps in to the boat. Calculate the depth into which the boat sinks further into water

Let us first calculate the force exerted by man on boat;

W = m x g;

W = 86 x  10

W = 860N

Hence this much weight is applied on the boat, now the boat will offer equal but opposite force;

W  = p g h

Putting the values;

860 = h x 10 x 4 x 1000

86 = h x 4000

h = 86/4000

h = 21.5 mm
