We know that,

Lateral surface area of a cube = 4a²

     A  = 4a²

     256 = 4a²

     a² = $\frac{256}{4}$

     a² = 64

     a = $\sqrt{64}$

     a = 8

We also know that,

Volume of cube = a³

                           = (8)³

                           = 8 × 8 × 8

                           = 512 cm³
