Given:-

  • Base area of a right circular cone = 13.86 cm²
  • Slant height of the cone = 8cm

To Find:-

  • Curved Surface Area of the cone.

Note:-

  • Refer to the attachment for the figure.

Solution:-

We know, the base of a cone is in the shape of circle.

We also know,

Area of circle = πr² sq.units.

Hence,

πr² = 13.86

⇒ 22/7 × r² = 13.86

⇒ r² = 13.86 × 7/22

⇒ r² = 0.63 × 7

⇒ r² = 4.41

⇒ r = √4.41

⇒ r = 2.1

Radius of the base of the cone is 2.1 cm

Now,

We know,

Curved Surface Area of the cone = πrl sq.units.

Hence,

CSA of the cone = 22/7 × 2.1 × 8

⇒ CSA = 22 × 0.3 × 8

⇒ CSA = 52.8 cm²

The CSA of the cone is 52.8 cm²

Other Formulas Related to Cones:-

  • Volume of cone = 1/3πr²h cu.units

  • TSA of cone = πr(r + l) sq.units

  • l stands for slant height
  • h stands for the altitude (or height).
