Given :

The base length of a trapezium are 14 cm and 22 cm. Find the area of the trapezium if the distance between the parallel sides is 8 cm

How To Solve :

  • Here we are provided with the parallel sides of trapezium which are 14 cm and 22 cm respectively. After which the distance that is given is 8 cm. From these three values we need to find the area. For this we need to used the formula for the area of trapezium and put all these three values to get to the required answer.

Solution :

Given Data :

  • Parallel sides = 14 cm and 22 cm

  • Distance between the parallel sides = 8 cm

Formula for getting the area of trapezium :

\red{\underline{ \pink{ \boxed{  \green{\frak{Area_{(Trapezium)} =  \frac{1}{2}(distance \: between \: sides)(sum \: of \: parallel \: sides)}}}}}}

Now, putting the values we get

 \frak{Area_{(Trapezium)} =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 8 \times (14 + 22)}

 \frak{Area_{(Trapezium)} =  \frac{1}{ \cancel2} \times  \cancel8 \times 36 }

 \frak{Area_{(Trapezium)}  = 4 \times 36 \:  {cm}^{2}  }

 \frak{Area_{(Trapezium)}  = 144 \:  {cm}^{2}  }

  • Hence, the area is 144 cm²
