Question :

The base of a cylindrical vessel measures 300cm². Water is poured into up to a depth of 6m. Calculate pressure of the water on the base in SI Unit. (Take : g = 10 m/s², Density of water = 1000 kg/m².)

Given :

  • The base of a cylindrical vessel = 300 cm².
  • Height, h = 6cm = 0.06m.
  • Gravity due to acceleration, g = 10 m/s².
  • Density of water, ρ = 1000 kg/m².

Solution :

We know that,

→ p = ρgh.

Where,

  • P = Pressure.
  • ρ = Density of water.
  • g = gravity due to acceleration.
  • h = height.

Now,

Put the given values in the above formula.

→ 100 × 10 × 0.06

\sf 600 kgm^{-1}s^{-2}

→ 600 Pa.

The pressure of water of the base is 600 Pa.
