To find : base and height of parallelogram .

Given : the base of a parallelogram is thrice its height and area of parallelogram is  897 cm^{2}  .

Solution :

  • As per given data we know that the base of a parallelogram is thrice its height and area of parallelogram is  897 cm^{2}  .
  • Let , x be the height of parallelogram and 3x be the base .
  • To find base and height of parallelogram we use formula of area of parallelogram.
  • Area of parallelogram = base \times height

        897 = x\times 3x  \\ 897 = 3x^{2} \\x^{2} = \frac{897}{3}  \\ x^{2} = 299 \\ x = \sqrt{299} \\

  • Now, height = x = \sqrt{299} \ cm

                 base = 3x = 3\times \sqrt{299}\ cm

Hence , height and base of parallelogram are \sqrt{299} \ cm and 3 \sqrt{299}\ cm respectively .
