★ Given:

The base of a parallelogram is thrice its height.

Area of the parallelogram = 867 cm²

★ To Find:

The base and height of the parallelogram.

★ Solution

Let the height of the parallelogram be x.

Base = 3x

Formula to find area of parallelogram = bh

Area of the given parallelogram = 867 cm²

bh = 867 cm²

3x x x = 867 cm²

3x² = 867 cm²

x² = 867/3

x² = 289

x = √289

x = 17

Therefore:

Height of the parallelogram = x = 17 cm

Base of the parallelogram = 3x = 3 x 17 = 51 cm

Important Area Formulae:

→ Area of a square = a²

→ Area of a rectangle = lb

→ Area of a circle = πr²

→ Area of a rhombus = bh (or) 1/2 x d1 x d2

→ Area of a parallelogram = bh
