area of a triangle = base * height
let us take height to be 'x' then, base will be '2x'
since area = 512 cm
   512=(x)(2x)
  ( 2x)²=512
  x²=512/2
     =256
therfore 'x' = 16
now height='x' = 16
and, base= '2x' = 2* 16 = 32

Given :

  • The base of a parallelogram is twice its height.
  • The area of the parallelogram is 512 cm²

To find : The base and the height of parallelogram.

Solution :

The base of the parallelogram is 32cm and height of the parallelogram is 16cm.

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the base and height of the given parallelogram)

Here, we will be using the mathematical formula to calculate the area of the parallelogram. Which is -

Area of parallelogram = Base × Height

Let, the base = x unit

So, The height = x/2 unit

Now, putting the values, in the previously mentioned mathematical relationship,

512 = x × x/2

x² = 512 × 2

x² = 1024

x = √1024

x = 32

Length of base of the parallelogram = 32 cm

So, height of the parallelogram = 32/2 = 16 cm

Hence, the base of the parallelogram is 32cm and height of the parallelogram is 16cm.
