Answer :-

( refer to the attachment )

Given :-

  • BC = 8 cm
  • AC = 17 cm

To Find :-

  • Area of traingle

Solution :-

We know that,

Area of right angle triangle = ½ × AB × BC

Here, we are given BC, So to find area we first need to find AB

By applying Pythagoras theorem -

\sf (AB)^2 + (BC)^2 = (AC)^2

\sf (AB)^2 + 8^2 = 17^2

\sf AB^2 + 64 = 289

\sf AB^2 = 289 - 64

\sf AB^2 = 225

\sf AB = 15

So, now we have,

AB = 15 cm and BC = 8 cm

\sf Area = \frac{1}{2} \times 15 \times 8

\sf = 15 \times 4

\sf = 60

\boxed{\sf Area\: of\: triangle = 60\: cm^2 }
